Lebensfreude-holiday with Doris Musill
Feeling how good life feels!
Just one thing before we continue – you don’t have to be suffering from an illness to appreciate the benefits of staying at Doris Musill’s charming “Lebensfreude” hotel in Bad Mitterndorf! A visit to the hotel and café is always rewarding, and everyone is welcome. The more that guests in the “Best of Health” take up our offer alongside those who are in less good health, the better the unique concept of our hotel will work.
Situated in a secluded and picturesque location above the centre of Bad Mitterndorf, Doris Musill’s “Lebensfreude” hotel is an insider tip for hikers and for fans of the winter. It is, however, also a place for those who want to lose their fear of contact with others and return home with a large portion of newly found self-confidence.
“Anything to get away from here” – it was with words like these – and sometimes stronger – that Doris Musill’s patients expressed their wish for a break, for some form of normality. The chance to take a holiday, time together with their partner, a few days rest and relaxation with the family just like “before”; a time to regain strength, to have fun or just to talk. A time to meet other people and to be able to switch off. “Just like before” – that is, before the diagnosis.
Doris wasn’t a “normal” nurse. A “normal” nurse wouldn’t have smuggled a dog into the palliative care unit to fulfil a last wish. A “normal” nurse would definitely not have built up long-term friendships with former patients. Today, Doris is not a “normal” hotelier either. With her “Lebensfreude” hotel in Bad Mitterndorf, she has fulfilled a dream that started life as a mad idea during a night shift and then slowly took shape over a number of years.
Finally, the dream became reality; she bought the former Hubertushof in Bad Mitterndorf and lovingly and extensively renovated and adapted it. She created a hotel that today has 19 rooms, including five single rooms with extra-wide beds, and a wheel chair friendly junior suite with a barrier free bathroom. The lift from the lower ground floor to the wellness area on the top floor provides yet more convenience for the guests. The heart of the house is the lounge and café with access to the lovely garden with its mature trees.
“Therapies are not just demanding on the body, they are, above all, challenging to the soul”. This is neo-entrepreneur Doris Musill’s firm conviction. Diagnosis, examinations, decisions for and against particular forms of treatment, set-backs in career and private life – everything to do with this illness saps the strength and takes away the joy of being alive. All these things, even the fear of falling ill oneself, can disrupt the normal life of the afflicted person, their partner and their family. This is exactly where a holiday at Doris Musill’s hotel can help.
Cancer is “shown the red card” at the “Lebensfreude” hotel. Everyone, whether a cancer sufferer or not, can have breakfast or their main meal when they choose. Peter, head of kitchen and Doris’s husband, will happily serve individual courses of the four-course meal throughout the day. He is a master of his trade when it comes to seasoning, portion size and consistency of the food. Our service personnel are friendly and helpful to all our guests, regardless of their state of health. Whether our guests want to sleep late because of their illness or due to a late night at a party, it makes no difference to us. All guests are the same and are treated equally.
Comprehensive service, under the motto “everything is possible”. Would you like a ride in a horse-drawn carriage? A flight in a hot-air balloon or helicopter? Almost every individual wish can be fulfilled. Doris has a talent for organising and knows how to get things done. It is, however, ofter the simple things that guests in the “Lebensfreude” hotel want – a few wonderful hours spent in the garden or on the alm, or relaxing in the infra-red cabin.
